Me n' Me Marra
This limited edition print of two pit ponies is entitled "Me 'n me Marra" and is inspired by an old photo of two pit ponies down the coalmines. "Marra" means 'workmate' or 'pal' in Geordie dialect and was the term used by pitmen when referring to the workmates they relied on in this dangerous and difficult job.
This original linoprint was selected for show at the 2023 Society of Equestrian Artists Horse in Art exhibition and the exhibition copy sold on the preview evening. It is a limited edition of 6 prints in smokey blue and 4 prints in ochre.
With thanks to the Kirkup family for their permision to recreate the image from Michael Kirkup's book 'Pit Ponies' as a linoprint.
Image size 20 x 30cm. Prints are sold unmounted or mounted to fit a standard 30 x 40cm (12" x 16") frame and p&p to the UK is included in the price.
